Porcelain Veneers View Photos

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory.  They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile.  They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.

As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement.  They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
  • Crooked teeth.
  • Misshapen teeth.
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth.
  • Teeth that are too small or large.
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces.
  • Worn or chipped teeth.

What does getting porcelain veneers involve?

Dr. Sohl likes to meet with you and talk. He will take photographs of your smile and teeth, which you will both view together. This gives both of you the opportunity to see what you want to accomplish.

Dr. Sohl is able to use these photographs to do “Imaging” of your Smile so you will see just what the possibilities are. Step by step we continue so that your Dream Smile will become a reality. SO… the next step is to have the necessary records to go forward. We will take impressions of your teeth and these models will be sent to a world class dental laboratory. There, a porcelain artist creates a “wax up” of the ideal smile for you.

You and Dr. Sohl will sit down and look at the wax up to further envision your results.  A matrix (mold) is made of the wax up so Dr. Sohl has this to use during preparing your teeth and fabricating the shaded temporaries so they will look like the wax up when you leave that day. An assistant will go over home care of your temporaries to make sure your mouth and gums stay healthy. An impression of the prepared teeth is sent to the lab. We will see you back within three days to check and make sure you are comfortable. This also gives you and your family time to look at your Smile and if you want to make any changes, you may; because now YOU are the wax up. The temporaries can be contoured and shaped, added to, or shortened until they are your dream Smile. Then a mold is taken of the final temporaries and sent to the porcelain artist at the laboratory to use in his final creation of your porcelain veneers.

At about three weeks from the preparation your veneers will be delivered and bonded to your teeth. Dr. Sohl will see you in three days again to check your bite and do any final adjustments or contouring. This third day visit is very important.  You will also receive home care instructions.  Proper brushing, a gel toothpaste is recommended, to keep Porcelain Veneers polished, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new Smile and veneers.
